Congratulations to Fusion, a vocal harmony group made up from the membership of Burton Operatic Society, who gave two show-stopping performances to be named the winners of the inaugural Burton Mail’s Got Talent.

FusionThey scooped the £500 prize after beating off competition from break dancer Bboy Slade and singers Kirsty Hughes, Chris Lee Jones, Dave Rutland and Tom Clamp during the grand finale at the National Brewery Centre.

Andy Hambleton, one of the members of Fusion, spoke to the Mail just moments after learning the group had won and said: “It is absolutely fantastic. After the first heat, I definitely thought that Kirsty Hughes was going to walk it — so it’s amazing what we have done.  We will be splitting the prize money. Some will be spent towards helping repair the roof of the chapel we rehearse at in Ferry Street, in Stapenhill.  We are also trying to put together a CD to showcase our work and a website so that we can raise our profile. But the competition was great because we got to perform in front of a live audience which was both scary and exhilarating.”
